A mix of emotions filter through your mind as you stop and consider what the “Positive” reading on the pregnancy test means. “What is happening inside my body?” you may wonder.
When the sperm penetrated the egg, a cell formed and then within the first half an hour, that cell divided and became two cells. These cells continue to divide as they travel toward the uterus. By the end of 10 days, this cluster of cells journeys down the Fallopian tube and attaches to the uterine wall.
An incredible thing happens as these cells continue to divide. They are starting to take on different roles. As part of their design, some cells become the placenta and grow against the uterine wall while others start forming the umbilical cord that is attached to your tiny developing baby.
This cord, is an amazing structure! There are two little “pipelines” inside it. One pipeline brings nourishment to the baby and the other one carries off any waste produced by your baby! All of this happens within the first two weeks of being pregnant!
Before you even know for sure that you are pregnant, those cells continue to develop and take on other roles within your baby’s body. His or her, central nervous system, heart, and lungs are just starting to develop and that little heart begins to beat. His or her little face is beginning to form and little dark circles mark where the eyes will be. Your tiny baby is only about 3/16 of an inch long. This all happens by the end of the 3rd and 4th week of being pregnant!

It is amazing that all this happens in just the first month. Your baby is amazing!
